Writing at Chester-le-Street CE Primary School
At Chester-le-Street CE Primary School, we recognise that writing is a fundamental life skill that empowers children to communicate with purpose and precision. We are committed to developing confident, creative writers who can adapt their writing for different audiences, purposes and contexts. Through our structured approach to teaching writing we ensure that children develop both the transcription and composition skills outlined in the National Curriculum. We want to cultivate a genuine love for writing by making meaningful links to our wider curriculum so that children understand writing as a powerful tool for learning, recording and sharing knowledge. By immersing children in rich vocabulary, quality texts and creative writing opportunities, we enable them to express themselves clearly and confidently, develop their own voice as writers, and take pride in their written work. We believe that writing is a vital skill that enriches children's minds and lives in countless ways, opening doors to future learning and success.
