In this section of the SEND Information Report we have provided details of how we adapt the curriculum and learning environment to support children with SEN . This support will vary in individual cases and after a thorough assessment of needs. We ensure that provision for SEND children goes beyond the differentiated approaches and learning arrangements that are normally provided as part of quality first teaching. This may take the form of additional support or involvement of specialist staff or support services.
We monitor and document children’s progress over time. We identify children who might benefit from more intensive levels of teaching. Some of the approaches used may include:
Strategies to support Literacy
- Sounds-Write (A quality first phonics programme) in a targeted group.
- Lexia (Personalised Learning for Reading).
- Word Wasp and Hornet (Reading and Spelling Skills).
- Targeted reading books.
- Daily reading with identified children.
- Reading Booster groups.
- Writing Booster groups.
- Teaching Assistant led games and activities.
- From Reception to Year 6 children are supported by qualified teaching assistants.
- Support Plans enable us to target support required by individual children.
Strategies to support Maths
- Ten Town in a targeted group.
- Maths booster groups.
- Use of technology to support Maths (iPads and online activities).
- Teaching Assistant led games and activities.

Strategies to support Speech and Language
- We work very closely with Speech and Language specialists to deliver targeted intervention.
- We have the support of a qualified Speech and Language Therapist, which we can access at specific times during the year or when the need arises.
- Our staff are confident in delivering intervention programmes, such as Speech Link, to develop speech and language.
- We use a range of technology and resources to support speech and language, where appropriate.
- We support families and plan for any additional needs and requirements by bringing professionals together with one clear aim.
